about

Canto II (2015)

Anganga is the supreme entity of the Bantu people ("Anganga Nzambi"). The word appears in the song “Grande Anganga Muquixe”, whose lyrics indicate reverence for the older master. It is an expression that concerns reverence for the past. 'Anganga' is also the name of the first record of the partnership between Juçara Marçal and Cadu Tenório. 'Canto II' is one of the Vissungos (working songs) collected by Aires da Mata Machado Filho in the 1920s (and part of the Anganga album). Philologist and linguist, Machado recorded 65 scores of these songs in the book "O Negro e o Garimpo in Minas Gerais”.

Juçara Marçal is the lead singer of the Metá Metá group. She was also part of Vésper Vocal and A Barca. In 2014, she released the solo album RED. The album won the APCA Award - Best Album of 2014, the State Governor Award - Best Album - Jury Vote, and the Multishow Shared Music Award, amongst others. In 2015, she released “ANGANGA” in partnership with Cadu Tenório. In 2017, with Rodrigo Campos and Gui Amabis, she released the album “Sambas do Absurdo” inspired by a Albert Camus book. Since 2018, she has performed with Kiko Dinucci and Thais Nicodemo, the show Brigitte Fontaine, in which she sings in French the repertoire of this artist. In February 2019, Juçara Marçal debuted as an actress in the play “Gota d´água {Preta}”

Cadu Tenório is a Rio-based Brazilian musician. Has created a sprawling, clattering discography, influenced by industrial and experimental performers and composers such as Throbbing Gristle, Stockhausen, and Masonna. Like many noise musicians, he’s also been influenced by technology itself; as a child, he’d spend hours recording his broken guitar along with radio programs, toys, or room noises. His name is also associated as a composer and musician to VICTIM !, Sobre a Máquina, Ceticências, Banquete (with Márcio Bulk), Vaso and many other side projects.
