about

Máquina #3 correia (2013)

'Máquina #3 correia' is a circular motion machine. Its mechanism consists of a 7-meter circumferential rubberized belt that loops between two aluminum pulleys. A 2 horsepower, 1730 revolutions per minute electric motor, coupled to one of the pulleys, puts the machine into operation. The rotation of the motor shaft rotates the pulley, dragging the belt and making it run at a speed of approximately 90 kilometers per hour. At every minute, the belt runs 215 times around the pulleys. The whole set measures around 60 x 400 x 60 cm.

Gabriela Mureb is an artist. Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
