Vesper 1 - Noon

'Vesper 1 - Noon' is part of 'Oratório': a sound-based work using subwoofers and lit candles, their flames set in motion by deep rhythms. The ambiance is rooted in the Ambrosian hymn Aeterne Rerum Conditor, one of the first forms of chanting in Western history, practiced by the first Christian monks. By exploring architectural and musical forms in religion, the artist expands connections and meanings to consider the cultural interrelations between the use of the bass with ritual and cult. Caccuri’s musical interpretation seeks sonic forms in which the bass performs as a vehicle for the mind through body and skin.

Brazilian artist Vivian Caccuri (São Paulo, 1986) is a self-taught composer and a master in Sound Studies. Vivian has collaborated with musicians such as Gilberto Gil and Arto Lindsay, and
has had residencies in music institutions such as the Studio Acusticum in Sweden. Vivian participated in Biennials such as 2019 Venice, São Paulo and Kochi-Muziris in India and had commissioned works by the Serpentine Galleries London, HighLine New York, Museum of Contemporary Art of Detroit and others.
